At the entrance to the Crypt of the Excavations, an elegant mosaic floor takes us back in time to the time of Augustus.
At the intermediate hall paved in “cocciopesto” (Opus signinum), we recognize the remains of a stately home of the very early imperial age: two bedrooms and a dining room, which probably disappeared to make room for the construction of the early Christian Basilica.
