Aquileia, site of memory
The Heroes' Cemetery, historic testimony of the First World War, preserves the memory of when Aquileia was crossed by the tragic conflict that ended in 1918. In the days that followed the Great War Aquileia became a symbol of Italian spirit with the first military cemetery for the fallen on the karst front.
Aquileia Splendida Civitas
In September Aquileia hosts the second edition of “Splendida Civitas”, a historical reenactment set in the 4th century. Camps, workshops, performances and tastings bring Roman daily and military life to life. The event culminates with the reenactment of the Battle of the Frigidus, decisive for the Empire’s history.
