Mooring rings

Looking at the front of the docks, we notice at regular intervals protruding parallelepipeds, some of which with rounded ends, all united by the presence of a vertical hole.
Their function is still debated: they could be rings for mooring boats or holes where wooden cranes were inserted for loading and unloading goods. On the lower loading floor, on the other hand, smaller horizontal holes were used to fix the mooring lines of the ships.
